Balloon Museum Temporary Closure

The Anderson Abruzzo International Balloon Museum and Museum Shoppe will be closed to the public starting Monday, March 20, 2023, for upgrades to the museum’s roof. The museum will reopen on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. All front entrances to the museum will be closed during this time. While the museum is closed to the public, staff will be diligently working on two new upcoming exhibits that will open after repairs are completed!

The closure is part of the $1.5 million roofing project to replace all the cladding on the building that is currently underway. The museum opened in 2005 and is designed to look like an inflating balloon at the entry, including a fabric roof and an inflated balloon at the main 75 foot tall gallery. The towering roof allows for large balloon displays and exhibits, such as the Double Eagle II!

Stories in the Sky and Music in the Sky will continue while the museum is closed! They will be held at the Golf and Event Center, located just north of the Balloon Museum at 9401 Balloon Museum Drive, NE.
